We know that not every human loves winter weather and snow as much as we do, but we also get to see just how much each of your dogs really do love to get out and play in the cold and snow when we take them out on winter Buddy outings.
Sometimes, we just need a little extra motivation to get out and explore on a winter day. Here are a few suggestions of beautiful local places that are perfect for a snowy romp with your pup. Consider skiing, snowshoeing, or even just walking on packed trails, but please follow proper trail etiquette and don’t ruin trails for other users.
Nevada Nordic
Head up to Chickadee Ridge on Mt. Rose and enjoy awesome groomed trails for skiing or snowshoeing with your dog. There are some great views of Lake Tahoe and always great snow conditions as they groom frequently.https://nevadanordic.org/grooming-updates
Consider making a donation to support Nevada Nordic’s efforts if you go out and enjoy their trail system. https://nevadanordic.org/donate
Tahoe XC
This is another spot aiming to make winter recreation accessible to the masses. They groom 9 km of dog friendly trails (and a whole bunch more you can explore without your dog). Here is a map of their trail system https://tahoexc.org/trail-map
They offer day and season passes, equipment rentals for skis or snowshoes and more. Learn more to plan a visit here https://tahoexc.org/rentals#plan-your-visit
We hope these local gems provide you the little extra boost of inspiration to get out and enjoy a winter day with your dog. It doesn’t get much better than a snowy and sunny winter day in Tahoe!
